Samyagdarshan-jnāna-chāritrāni moksha-mārgah

The right viewpoint, the right knowledge and right conduct together constitute the path of liberation.

The person who is compassionate, has no pride and is without sorrow destroys the bondage of conduct-deluding (Caritra-mohaniya) karma. That is, he transcends attachment and liberates.
